Again, I am glad I read this post being a relative newbie, especially at synastries. I will let Chiron, Juno and BML rest a while :)
Thanks Dawn!

Another great post, Dawn, and a point of view about the inner planets I hadn't heard before.

It strikes me that what you're saying about respecting the foundations of astrology represents an aspect of the current Saturn/Uranus opposition - which I believe has to do with welcoming the new while standing firmly on the foundation of what is still working from the past. The "interstitial space" is what I call it in my blog, interstitial art being a combination of the new and innovative with the tried and true.

Thanks for you insights.

Yes, there is the same irreconcilable energy in the quindecile as there is in the inconjunct family--obsession always stems from having something just out of our grasp, and not being able to possess it fully. I've been trying to test it out within progressions to see if they have the same capacity to manifest in physical terms.

We know more about the more refined aspects operating within a chart than we do between them. I'm hesitant to say just how they operate in synastry, because from what I've seen so far, they don't consistently manifest in obsession between charts--so there must be some other level or purpose to them that we haven't begun to crack.

with my chart - i have been drawn into a lot of work on obsession and sorting out the influence of obsessive aspects. the exact Moon Pluto square is one level - but the Moon and the NN quindecile the Scorpio ascendent from either side of the Descendent was another level of obsession all together. i have come to think of the quindecile and the 15 degree angle as being comparable and related to the inconjunct and the semisextile. what a semi square is to a square - a quindecile/15 degree angle is to the inconjunct/semi sextile.

and yes - we do fall into complexity of all kinds - intellectual - emotional - spiritual - to avoid responsibility and pain.....

Yes, it can. Squares need to get something specific done according to the planets involved, and squares between charts can awaken that same energy. The planets can grab hold and not let go until they've figured out what they need from one another. It could be that only one person feels the compulsion, where the other feels avoidance and uneasiness. It happens with conjunctions and oppositions, too, but the square seems to be particularly compulsive. Hard aspects between charts aren't always about lack of communication or understanding.

Thanks, Anne. That's a very acute observation, about the current tendency to hide from the obvious. Perhaps Pluto's run through Capricorn will help put Saturn back where he belongs.

And I recommend Ruperti to everyone who is studying seriously. His work has the unique combination of being full of esoteric wisdom yet grounded at the same time.

Hi Dawn

thank you for the grounded practicality of this post! We live in a cultural phase which increasingly – it seems to me – encourages both overtly and covertly the all-too-human tendency to hide from the obvious and the immediate, creating diversions in order to avoid facing up to personal responsibility. As Alexander Ruperti trenchantly observed in "Cycles of Becoming", the route of evasion/distraction " is not the path of personal growth". So let's start with what's obvious and immediate in our relationship lives – eg a cross-aspect between Venus and Saturn – and only turn to the fine tuning of the more subtle aspects when we have constructed a sound platform on which the relationship can stand the tests of time.

Anne W

ps you'd never guess I had Saturn conjunct four of my personal planets now, would you??!!
