Hi, Baaki. It's absolutely related. With your packed second house, you're very comfortable with what you have within yourself, you know where you stand. But the eighth house is about where we merge, where we surrender what we own in order to meld with another and create something new. All of the water houses carry a little death about them--in the eighth house we test what we have (Scorpio) in order to discover the truth of what we have. This is a terrifying prospect to someone without much emphasis on the 8th. There is a Scorpio shadow that arises when we put up our defenses--which is what we do when confronted with the eighth. It becomes a battle, rather than a merging. You have to trust what you own, and trust the process of merging with another. Otherwise you will never know if what you have is really your own.

Hello Dawn..

I have 4 planets in my second house(Mercury/venus/mars/Jupiter).. and the house ruler Sun conjuncts Chiron and opposes Saturn sharply.

I hate messing you up with details.

I recently began to get close to a guy whose Sun sits on my empty eight..and he seriously makes me get scared of what would happen if I get close to him. I feel like I am a brick wall without cement who would crumble if I got too close to him. I don,t wanna have this fear..I always have this urgent feeling that I quickly and somehow need to become stronger than him. Is this somehow related??

Someone recently asked me to define the difference between the 'old' astrology and the 'new' astrology. And the main difference is that modern astrology is developmental and evolutionary. Modern astrology is a tool for discovering what we need to do in this life in order to find fulfillment. So yes, experience can show us the way forward.

Also, remember that when a house is 'empty' we look at the ruler of that house for guidance. Transits and progressions to and from that house ruler are very important. So if Capricorn is ruling your second house, or is a secondary ruler of that house, Saturn does become your guide.

Dawn, " An emphasis on the eighth house without a strong second house to back it up means that we will not know what we bring to the table in terms of relationships". I have Sun,Mercury and Saturn crammed into the 8th under Cancer and an empty second house. It used to feel like that , now in mid thirties, I feel differently. Would it be a function of Saturn or just good 'ol experience and some re-scripting on my part after a serious study of my approach to relationships ? Thanks for all this great learning you give us!
