Radha, Jupiter in synastry can be problematic. In the beginning, he almost always acts as a benefic, bringing people together (especially by progression) and showing his sunny side. It's only later that his flaws come out--neglect, greed, assuming too much, taking things too far, being evasive. What he does depends on what else is in the chart and the houses involved.

Yes, Jupiter goes a long way in explaining the negative-Virgo side of the Piscean picture.

Great article, thanks Dawn. Among other things it really helped me to digest what went wrong in the Piscean Age. (I wonder, though...should I now be concerned about my Jupiter-BML conjunction... :)

Dawn, thanks so much for your insights. Much to think about here, and to process. I'm sure as Neptune comes back for another couple of runs opposite these 1st house planets in early Virgo (and Jupiter trining them), I'll be processing and, hopefully, owning and sharing. Will keep that "stay real and not get wrapped up in personal drama" in mind!

Hi Les. It seems to me that the acquired, soul-oriented, personal value system in this life needs to become a resource. The Jupiter/Neptune conjunction cries out for higher meaning and direction, but this can't happen until we share our values and beliefs with others (8th). With Jupiter and Neptune both ruling the 8th house, it's crucial that you connect intimately with others according to your value system and practical experience (Virgo) and not go off on high-fallutin' tangents that aren't based on your reality. Your need to connect will undergo change during the course of a lifetime, but whenever there is a shift in first house energy, the meaning again must be processed, owned, adjusted and shared. Jupiter/Neptune has a tendency to exaggerate or blow things out of proportion (and in your case, especially when dealing with others) so the trick is to stay real and not get wrapped up in personal drama.

WOW! I simply love your style of writing... a lot of good sense, of course, but when it is said with your flair, even good sense becomes palatable :)

Thanks Dawn... this was enlightening.

Would love to hear about Jupiter in Synastry... does he work the same way? Both ways?

Thanks, Dawn. I really get the highest road, ideals, goals part (Jupiter/Nep - Sag - Virgo). But Pisces is on the cusp of my 8th house, which I don't really understand - maybe because I have no planets there or because that 8th house stuff is more focused on my 1st house Pluto conjunct Venus and Mercury (Virgo), which all happen to sextile my Jupiter/Neptune in early Scorpio. That 8th house/Pluto/Scorpio energy with Jupiter/Neptune - I don't know, maybe needs things to be more deeply meaningful? It does seem kinda that way to me. And transiting Pluto is in the midst of a long set of trines to the MC (where Jupiter is now transiting conjunct).

This is not a complicated aspect, but more difficult to put into practice than most. With Jupiter conjunct Neptune, and the Virgo Sun squaring a Sag Saturn, you always have to maintain the highest goals possible, and follow the highest road. Neither the Virgo nor the Jupiter will allow anything other than the highest ideals and visions. Again, take a look at the house Pisces rules. Jupiter will manifest (or it will try, with Neptune there) whatever that house intends. The Jupiter/Neptune conjunction has extra power/influence over that house, so listen to what that house is asking you.

Oh lovely! Jupiter is transiting back and forth over my MC (7 Taurus). I am looking for a new job, but trying to hold onto the current one while looking (I won't be made redundant, but I could screw up I suppose if not careful). I'm also under long Neptune transits, and Jupiter and Neptune are conjunct in my natal chart so work hand in hand. I'll have to use my natal Virgo Sun square Saturn to stay grounded. My Saturn is in Sagittarius - what influence do you think its ruler Jupiter might have on that?

Another thoughtful and enlightening post Dawn. Thank you.
Jupiter was prominent, exactly on my ascendant, when I broke my arm on top of a mountain, requiring me to completely change career direction, sending me back to school -which led to a whole shift in my identity, home, marriage and creative expression- it was stunning. Of course, it is natally in Sag in my second house (conjunct the galactic centre) and I have sun and moon in Pisces in the 4th, and Pisces is on the cusp of the 5th. I assume that all of this will allow more universal principles to flow through my soul's expression in the world.
