Thanks for your input Dawn. You don't have to be sorry though, I'm not the one who came up with this theory. I just happened to come across it and never heard of such a thing so I figured I'll ask. It hasn't occurred to me that, of course, if someone does this with the nodes, why not with the planets or other points. Anyways, thanks again.

Don--Thank you for bringing this up. This is the most exciting new thinking about the Black Moon, treating it not as a point in itself but as an axis. Since it IS an orbital point, in my mind the opposing point must be taken into consideration. About ten years ago when a friend and I were researching this, we were calling the opposing point The White Moon, and it was obvious that it was all about the embodiment of spiritual energy into the manifest world. This makes sense of BML's connection to creativity and sexuality, and also to the ruthlessness of her reputation when she must say, "here, and no further." It also makes sense of the fears that arise in charts with Lilith prominent--the fear of seduction and castration, the helplessness of rage. When Lilith and the Nodes come together, the new awareness of the North Node must be made manifest in some concrete way. We have to stop fearing being eaten by the world (and death) and learn to transcend it. I will be writing more on this soon and there will be a class in interpreting Lilith as an axis.

I'm sorry, Ula, but I think this is the silliest thing I've ever heard. Why would you do this for the Nodes only and not everything else in the chart? Sounds to me like lazy astrology.

The Black Moon axis seems to function in a fashion opposite to that of the Lunar Nodal axis. With the Moon's nodes the spirituality of the Sun illuminates the North Node and leads us to an evolution and reworking of the South Node/North Node balance.

With the Black Moon axis - The heart of the Earth and the intelligence of physical manifestation and embodiment - operating thru the point opposite the Black Moon - leads our solar individualities and potential down into and thru the Black Moon to the purposes and intelligence of the heart, the body, and the Earth. The Black Moon axis serves to contract and embody us ( Saturn) while the Moon nodes serve to expand and spiritualize us thru the Sun and individuation.

timely. thank you. you write beautifully. things "lilithy" lately (hard to describe, but some sort of awakening, or deep stirring) got me to check mine and i see it's conjunct natally to my north node. and this same stirring got me to look at lilith transiting (currently trining my mercury/venus) and i see that transiting north node is conjunct my natal mars in scorpio. it's a deep and thick body of water and i can't see the bottom but something's up. really curious about the natal nn/lilith conjunction, so homework ahead.

thank you. this was very helpful.

Hi Dawn,
I was wondering whether you have ever heard of the following way of node interpretation, and what your thoughts are. I read somewhere that if the sign on the cusp of the house the node is in is different than the sign of the node itself, then the node should be interpreted as being in the next house. So, for example, if my node house is the 4th, and has Leo on the cusp, but Virgo is actually the sign of my node, and Virgo is on the cusp of the 5th, then my node should be read as if in the 5th. What do you think of that?

It is perhaps an over simplification - but the more I work with these Nodal returns it seems there is a parallel and equivalent symbolism between the Sun and the Moon, the North Node and the South Node, the Midhaven and the IC, and the Father and the Mother.....

The 1 st quarter Nodal square returns are also generating repeating Ascendents just like the Nodal returns. There seems to be a very broad and valuable life overview and perspective with these nodal returns, squares, and oppositions........
