To celebrate the summer (or rather, in my case, to help ignore it until the autumn comes) I will be offering a discount on the class on Draconic charts.  This is a class that is on offer all the time, but for the week of Monday July 29th to Monday August 5th the fee for the course will be $65 rather than the usual $75 dollars.  (This includes those of you who have already booked the class for that week.)  Details follow.  If you are interested, please email me (alcuin9@gmail.com) and I will send instructions.

Introducing the Draconic Chart

Part class and part reading, Introducing the Draconic Chart takes us through the hidden realms of your consciousness to unlock secrets of the natal chart.

The Draconic Chart can tell you more about yourself in a shorter amount of time than any other technique I know.  Read properly, it will unlock the mysteries of the natal chart, those things that, in spite of all analysis and understanding, refuse to make sense.  The Draconic chart is the natal chart read from the point of view of the Nodes, and if you want to understand your purpose, your path and the things that are getting in your way, it’s best to begin here.  It’s also a wonderful tool in synastry, often clearly revealing the purpose underlying a relationship.  We will use your own natal charts and the charts of  other people you know well.  Because the Draconic Chart is so personal, it is sometimes difficult to validate charts for others we are not intimate with.  We will also go deeply into the ‘nodal story’ and see the blockages and challenges involved in integrating and balancing the Nodes.

I hope you join me on this mysterious and surprising journey.

  1. I just pulled up my draconic chart on astro.com.

I looked at the orientation of the signs/houses and noticed that the planets are all in same position/house/degree as my natal . The only thing that change was that the sign my natal moon is in (PISCES) was in the 1st house.

Do you read a draconic chart just like a typical natal chart?

also, I did notice that the signs my planets were in described me better than my natal description.

    Thanks!

    1. As the planets and points are all moved by a single measurement, just like a solar arc chart, what you end up with is a chart that looks just like the natal, with only the signs changed. While it’s relevant to consider the changing signs (a lot of people feel that the Sun and the Moon in the draconic feel more ‘real’ than the natal), you really have to compare the draconic to the natal to get any meaning out of it. This movement by a single measurement (in this case, between the N Node and 0 Aries) is called a direction.

You do need to understand what you’re working with to get a real perspective on draconics. I suggest you take my draconics class, which is available at any time.

  2. Hello Dawn,

Usually when the nodal rulers are conjunct in a chart, we interpret it as past and present that are kinda intertwined, karma from the past that will still be used in the present…etc etc..

But those who have a Mars/Venus conjunction in the natal will always have Nodal rulers conjunct in the Draconic chart. Does this mean something, does this reveal anything about those who have natal Mars/Venus conjunction?

    1. The interpretation of the Nodes in the draconic chart is a complicated subject which we can’t address here. We can’t interpret the signs of the draconic nodes, as all nodes are Aries/Libra in the draconic chart. There is an esoteric meaning to the Venus/Mars conjunction that has to do with balance of our ‘interior’ and the ‘exterior’ lives. True Self versus the idea of Self that the world reflects back to me. The movement from Libra (other) orientation to Self-orientation (Aries) is the key.

  3. Hello Dawn,
during several classes we talked about moon-pluto energy in natal charts and how this aspect will be shown in the synastry. However I have a question about how it will play in the tropical/draconic synastry with two people who has this moon- pluto nataly ( each of them). As I remember it is not the easy aspect. Let’s say in this case the tropical person will be involved as tropical moon to draconic pluto and natal pluto to draconic moon plus both have this aspect in their natal charts. Will it be even more difficult then the same aspect with regular synastry for the natal person ? How exactly will it play for him/ her?
    Thank you in advance

    1. Hi Yehudis–this is a bit too much to chew in this space. Let’s just say that introducing the draconic chart brings an element of karma into it, especially if either the Moon or Pluto is involved with either Node. They will be more entangled, and the difficulties not so easy to spot because they will be firmly rooted to the consciousness of the other. Draconic charts and draconic contacts usually work on a more subterranean level than regular aspect configurations. You have to remember that the draconic chart is the natal chart redrawn from the point of view of the Nodes. Therefore, all draconic contacts reflect the nodal purpose and story. The Moon/Pluto dynamic in this case will be important in both individuals Nodal development.

  4. Hi Dawn,

What would your immediate thoughts be upon seeing a natal/Draconic biwheel with a Brobdingnagian pile of yods?

(And that’s without aspect lines to asteroids. Once those are added, they make the aforementioned Brobdingnagian yod pile look positively Lilliputian.)

    1. My immediate thought would be, “what a lot of quincunxes/inconjuncts; what a lot of conflict between the inner, Draconian life and the actual personality.” Yods don’t make magic, they bring opportunity to resolve conflict.

  5. Yes, that feels right. Most of the yods also have an opposing planet, making for double-inconjuncts into the bargain. The Draconian self has only started to emerge recently, spurred by an encounter with someone who made a lot of Draconian contacts. In addition, the progressed Tropical ac-dc axis is currently conjunct the natal Draconian ac-dc axis and opposing the *progressed* Draconian ac-dc axis … all of which happens to overlay the natal Tropical Pluto-opposition-Ceres axis. And for a cherry on top, Uranus is currently transiting that Ceres/Draconian dc/progressed Tropical dc/progressed Draconian ac conjunction. (For more fun, both the progressed Tropical and progressed Draconian suns just changed signs, and there’s also a 12th House Jupiter return happening. With a Neptune transit opposing that Jupiter(&Mars), and conjunct chart ruler Mercury(&Vesta). And an incipient Chiron-dc transit. And a progressed Draconian double-double inconjunct involving all three outer planets facing off against the moon.) As you might imagine, the person is currently taking time off work to have a bit of a breakdown. Fumbling forays into astrology are helping make some sense of it all.

    Thank you Dawn.
