If you’ve ever overcome a serious illness, you most likely owe your life to this hard-working scientist. Louis Pasteur, the French chemist and microbiologist, discovered the micro-world of germs and bacteria. Before Pasteur, infections were rampant, and we knew nothing about hygiene. In his lifetime, he saved the French wine and silk industries and found a cure for rabies. We still use his method of pasteurisation today.
Pasteur started as an unexceptional student but grew to become arguably the greatest scientist of the 19th century. What his chart reveals is a mind uniquely equipped for its task.
Black Moon Lilith: A Focused Resource
The unique thing about the Black Moon Lilith in this chart is its lack of distraction. While it loosely sextiles the Ascendant, its only other major aspect is a sextile to the asteroid Pallas. BML in the second house declares itself as a resource. The ruthless desire to penetrate the unknown is married to the logical, pattern-making understanding unique to Pallas.
This sort of thinking is deep in the fourth house of consciousness — rather accessible to Pasteur, with his Libra rising and North Node in Aquarius also in the fourth.
The BML-Moon Opposition
Why should the Moon and BML be so potent when connected? Because they are drawn to one another in a magnetic pull — like matter and anti-matter joining forces. The Moon is all we know of the material, dualistic world. BML represents the opposite: dark matter, everything we do not know. The drive and intensity are almost sexual.

You probably wouldn’t want to date this guy — not with his BML opposite the Moon in the 8th house and that scrappy Mars on the IC. But if we’re not dating Louis, the focus shifts to the mind. The powerful Capricorn stellium in the third house, including the Sun, Venus, Neptune, and Uranus, is all about making connections.
Mercury, ruler of the 9th, is also conjunct the Sun — giving vision and imagination to all of those Capricorn planets, which need concrete results. Lilith gets a free pass in this chart, strengthened by the lack of hard aspects and the connection to air. Fortunately for all of us alive today because of his work, she was not in a destructive mode. Instead, the focused Lilith simply creates.
