Jupiter can become so blinded by vision that he fails to see the reality right in front of him. It is no accident that Jupiter is prominent in the charts of both great law-makers and notorious law-breakers — he exaggerates whatever he touches, removing barriers until the ego either finds its true path or grows into a predatory void.
The Dual Face: Sagittarian Fire and Piscean Water
Jupiter represents the second two stages of the Mutable Story: where information becomes wisdom (Sagittarius) and then universal principle (Pisces). If Neptune represents the longing for dissolution into the All, Jupiter represents the desire to embody the All and take it in. This hunger can lead to greatness or greed. Jupiter is the graspable face of Neptune — he provides a direct, day-to-day access to otherworldly energies.
The King of Letting Go
Jupiter is the king of “be careful what you wish for.” If you are hanging onto a relationship or a career only out of a need for security, Jupiter’s need to move forward will eventually outweigh your need for safety. He tips over manageable situations to force a leap of faith.

Before we allow something into our lives, something has to be cleared out. In this way, he transcends the boundaries of the 2 — duality — to reach the 3: synthesis and transcendence.
The Danger of the Vision
Jupiter can become so blinded by vision that he fails to see the reality right in front of him. He fixates on potential where everything is forever young. Entire lives can be sacrificed to this realm of what if. It is no accident that Jupiter is prominent in the charts of both great law-makers and notorious law-breakers — he exaggerates whatever he touches, removing barriers until the ego either finds its true path or grows into a predatory void.
Fortunately, Jupiter provides a sense of judgment that Neptune does not. If you are drowning in a heavily Piscean chart, Jupiter is the one who will see you through the crossroads. He provides the answer to the chaos and the courage to take the leap.

Some killers charm their victims first.
Admit it–how many times have we waited for a Jupiter transit to bring something good and new into our lives, only to be completely disappointed, maybe even flattened by it?
Welcome to my last Jupiter 7th House Transit. Oh, God, that was painful. I was hoping I’d finally meet a new partner, but oh, no. I just met a lot of dead ends and ended up having to own up (and take care of) a lot of very self destructive patterns in the sphere of my relationships. Jupiter is natally in my 7th (Aquarius) and when I had my Jupiter return, Neptune and Chiron were conjunct my natal Jupiter. It was a car wreck of epic proportions.
My last great Jupiter transit was my 5th house one. I wrote a wonderful play and dated a guy for 6 months who was a real dear (we weren’t meant to be together permanently, but he was one of the sweetest men I’ve dated).
Take a look at the house Pisces rules in your chart–your Jupiter will have a great deal to say about it. It will also be the co-dispositor of any Pisces planets you many have, and may have more of an ‘earthly’ influence than Neptune.

Pisces rules my 8th, and I have Mercury there. My progressed DSC, and Jupiter are all in Pisces. In fact, Progressed Jupiter is conjunct my natal Mercury . . . very interesting.

Way way back when I first started my blog, I wrote about being careful of Jupiter. People I know with the hard aspects are always getting into trouble.

Jupiter was prominent, exactly on my ascendant, when I broke my arm on top of a mountain, requiring me to completely change career direction, sending me back to school -which led to a whole shift in my identity, home, marriage and creative expression- it was stunning. Of course, it is natally in Sag in my second house (conjunct the galactic centre) and I have sun and moon in Pisces in the 4th, and Pisces is on the cusp of the 5th. I assume that all of this will allow more universal principles to flow through my soul’s expression in the world.
This is not a complicated aspect, but more difficult to put into practice than most. With Jupiter conjunct Neptune, and the Virgo Sun squaring a Sag Saturn, you always have to maintain the highest goals possible, and follow the highest road. Neither the Virgo nor the Jupiter will allow anything other than the highest ideals and visions. Again, take a look at the house Pisces rules. Jupiter will manifest (or it will try, with Neptune there) whatever that house intends. The Jupiter/Neptune conjunction has extra power/influence over that house, so listen to what that house is asking you.

Radha, Jupiter in synastry can be problematic. In the beginning, he almost always acts as a benefic, bringing people together (especially by progression) and showing his sunny side. It’s only later that his flaws come out–neglect, greed, assuming too much, taking things too far, being evasive. What he does depends on what else is in the chart and the houses involved.
Hi Les. It seems to me that the acquired, soul-oriented, personal value system in this life needs to become a resource. The Jupiter/Neptune conjunction cries out for higher meaning and direction, but this can’t happen until we share our values and beliefs with others (8th). With Jupiter and Neptune both ruling the 8th house, it’s crucial that you connect intimately with others according to your value system and practical experience (Virgo) and not go off on high-fallutin’ tangents that aren’t based on your reality. Your need to connect will undergo change during the course of a lifetime, but whenever there is a shift in first house energy, the meaning again must be processed, owned, adjusted and shared. Jupiter/Neptune has a tendency to exaggerate or blow things out of proportion (and in your case, especially when dealing with others) so the trick is to stay real and not get wrapped up in personal drama.

As I prepare for an upcoming class, I’ve been combing through the site and came across this terrific article.
On a light note, I have a funny Jupiter story to share. He’s in my 3rd, in Pisces, and aspecting 11h Neptune, so fairly heavy Piscean influence here.
Positively, Jupiter has brought an early education experience at a Catholic school with really sophisticated music, dance, drama and arts programs.
Negatively, it has meant… library fines! Lots of ’em. I find it hard to control myself in libraries, and it’s not been unusual to find I have 15-20 books checked out at one time (and not realized it). (They are often related to spirituality– just made that connection.) It can be hard sometimes even to find the books. Once I was even banned (banned!!) from checking out books for a year (a year!!) by a (in my opinion) overly harsh librarian who seemed to feel I had made some kind of moral transgression, despite being paid up on my fines. (Sun/Pluto conj bringing the Long Arm of the Law from the 9th, looking down sternly at that book-blind Jupiter?)
Anyhow, while I’m happy to have added a new wing to the public library, I can attest to the eternal optimism that Jupiter brings. This time it will be different; this time the books (filling two tote bags, and a backpack, and oh, hurray, I have an extra plastic bag here I can use) will be kept track of, and returned on time. And they hardly ever are….
