A new course of ASTROLOGY AND ALCHEMY WILL BE OFFERED NEXT YEAR.  The requirements for this course have changed, as has the nature of the course, and there will be a selection process involved.  The class remains together over the course of time and there is research and group work involved.  Once you are admitted, you are not required to take all of the courses, but a certain amount of commitment is necessary.

A NEW COURSE ON THE ASTROLOGICAL SYMBOLISM IN SHAKESPEARE’S WORK IS IN DEVELOPMENT.  MORE NEWS SOON.

The Courses

THE BASICS REDUX:  Rethinking the Foundations of Astrology

Think Virgos are fussy, Cancers are maternal and Librans dither?  Think trines are easy and the Ascendant is ‘the Mask?’  Think again…Please use the site’s search engine typing in “Basics Redux” for details.  Basics Redux goes deep into the esoteric meanings behind all the common astrological tools we use:  number, polarity, planetary alignment, aspects and signs.  There is also a class devoted to the phasal relationship of the Sun and the Moon and how that determines personality type.

THE DARK GODDESS:  An in-depth exploration of the role of the four major asteroids and the Black Moon Lilith in the chart.  This 10 lesson course is given in two sequential parts.  Part One explores the role of each asteroid and BML in the natal chart.  Part 2 explores the same in synastry.  These lessons ask us to examine what is the changing role of the feminine not only in our chart but in our culture.  You will never be able to look at a chart the same way again.  The course unveils a deeper level of meaning in the chart that we have not previously been able to tap.

CROSSROADS OF CONSCIOUSNESS:  This course takes us on the journey we all must take in this lifetime.  It covers the deeper meaning behind all of the cycles of the chart we experience at the same time in life:  the Nodal returns at 19, 37 and 56, the progressed lunar returns at 27 and 55, the Saturn returns at 30 and 58, the Chiron return at 50, and our Jupiter returns at 12 year intervals.   We put these into the context of the chart and discover the power and available wisdom in return charts.  The universe gives us many opportunities to learn our lessons, and this course shows us where we have greater access to these opportunities.   It shows us that, far from being a descent into powerlessness, our later years are filled with creativity and opportunity.  This course will be taught again in the autumn or winter 2015-16.

DEEP CUTS:  SESSIONS IN SYNTHESIS

THE DEEP CUTS COURSE CONCENTRATES ON CHART SYNTHESIS AND ON THE USE OF PLANETARY DISPOSITORS AND HOUSE RULERSHIPS TO UNCOVER UNIFYING THEMES IN THE CHART.  DEEP CUTS WILL STEER YOU CLEAR OF EXPERIENCING ASTROLOGY AS A LIST OF ASPECTS, AND WILL HELP YOU TO UNDERSTAND THE CHART FROM THE CLIENT’S POINT OF VIEW.  EACH DEEP CUTS CLASS HAS A THEME AND CHARTS ARE ANALYZED IN DETAIL, INCLUDING TRANSITS AND PROGRESSIONS.  USUALLY THREE THEMES/SETS OF CHARTS PER COURSE. DEEP CUTS IS OFFERED THREE OR FOUR TIMES A YEAR, SO PLEASE CHECK THE SITE AND THE GYRE FOR THE NEXT ANNOUNCEMENT.  THE DEEP COURSE CLASS IS ALWAYS NEW, SO STUDENTS WHO HAVE TAKEN IT BEFORE MAY TACKLE DIFFERENT THEMES AND TECHNIQUES.

The Following Three Classes Are Available by Appointment at Any Time:

AN INTRODUCTION TO THE DRACONIC CHART

A One-Off Workshop class that is part workshop, part reading:  $125 for one  90 minute session.

The Draconic Chart shows your life path from the point of view of your Nodes and your evolving consciousness, but is much more than that.  The Draconic chart reveals the way we experience ourselves and how we define our inner truth.  It shows our true reactions to ourselves and our environment, and is, at times, painfully intimate. Contacts between the Draconic chart and the natal show the true being beneath the surface of our lives. We will look at how to begin interpreting Draconic Charts both in the natal and in synastry.

CHIRON:  BEYOND THE WOUND

Much emphasis is put on Chiron’s wound, but the reality is that he represents much more than our vulnerability.  Chiron represents what our true power is and what our legacy should be.  The sign, house, and aspects of Chiron describe our greatest wisdom.  This class is part lesson and part workshop and will use the students own charts as well as selected charts.  The class lasts 90 minutes and is $125.  The class focuses on personal empowerment and guides us to working with Chiron in the world.

LOVING THE INNER MALE:  Accessing the Sun, Mars and Saturn:

An informal class on how to access the male archetypes in the chart and discover what they ask of us. Discover ways which we may unconsciously be holding ourselves back. Charts will be provided and personal charts will be discussed on a voluntary basis.  The fee for this 90 minute class is $75.

Stay tuned for announcements, or sign up for The Widening Gyre, the Inner Wheel Newsletter, to get advance notice of when these classes will be on offer.

ONGOING STUDY

I’M SORRY TO ANNOUNCE THAT ONGOING TUTORING SESSIONS HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED FOR THE NEAR FUTURE.  IT’S POSSIBLE THAT THEY WILL START UP AGAIN AT SOME POINT NEXT WINTER; PLEASE KEEP CHECKING THIS PAGE FOR FUTURE ANNOUNCEMENTS.

Advanced Courses

SYNASTRY

Advanced Synastry:

The Advanced Synastry Course will be taught twice a year. Please see the site archives for details. The next course  will be offered in Spring of 2016.  The Synastry course includes:  analyzing individual charts for relationship issues; comparing the natal charts; the special role of the outer planets in synastry; the Nodes of the Moon in synastry; both the midpoint and Davison composite charts and the differences between them; using progressed composites.  The course varies slightly from time to time.

Soul Points in Synastry: (For Students who have completed Advanced Synastry).

Why does it feel like fate?  This course takes a look at the more unusual compelling  contacts between charts.  We analyze three case studies using the more esoteric points and aspects in natal and composite charts:  the Nodes, the Vertex, Draconic Charts, Coalescent Charts, harmonic charts and the five, seven and nine series of aspects.

PROGRESSIONS:

The Secondary Progressions Courses:

Progressions One

Twice yearly, Dawn offers a series of lessons on how to read Secondary Progressions. The lessons consist of 7 hour long classes on reading the progressed chart in depth. Much of this information and technique is new (based on Dawn’s extensive research and experience in using the secondary progressed chart) and cannot be obtained elsewhere. The fee is $295 , and can be paid in two installments.  PROGRESSIONS ONE IS A PRE-REQUISITE for PROGRESSIONS TWO, which details progressions in synastry.  No exceptions.

Progressions Two:  Progressions in Synastry

A sample course outline for Progressions Two:

Part One: Finding a Partner
We all want to be in a relationship, but are we prepared? Being in a relationship is often a question of finding the right person at the right time. Are we as ready as we think we are?  The progressed chart, more than any other indicator, is key to finding whether or not we are ripe to find that special someone.

Part Two:  The Venus Cycle and Longevity

Different types of relationship and how to spot them.  Can we tell how long it will last?

Part Three:  The Sun/Moon Cycle, Endings and Beginnings

How the Soli-Lunar cycle via progression relates to relationship.

Includes discussion of sexual maturity as related to the cardinal signs and their rulers.

We all meet people who are stuck at an immature level of relating. This lesson focuses on the relationship between the Progressed Moon, the Progressed Sun and transiting Saturn, and their role in developing sexual and psychological maturity.

Part Four: Crisis and Conflict

Learn how to spot the major relationship ‘tests’ via progression.  Case Study:  Relationship Through A Lifetime.

Part Five: Progressing the Midpoint Composite Charts

Part Six:  Progressing the Davison charts;  Learning to compare and contrast the different functions of both charts.

Both the midpoint chart and the Davison charts are eye-openers when progressed.  Also includes a discussion of the progressed Asteroids, the Vertex, the Black Moon, and the Soli-Lunar midpoint.

Summing Up Synastry

There is an optional exam/review if desired.  Students will be given data and asked to report on it.

Hi Jessica. There isn’t a traditional course schedule. The classes depend on what I can fit in at the moment. I try to teach Progressions One, The Dark Goddess, Progressions Two and Advanced Synastry at least once a year. Those are longer courses that run between $275 to $350 depending on how many classes are in each. (From 5 to 8 consecutive weeks.) I teach Crossroads in Consciousness, a class about cycles and returns, at least once every two years. Shorter courses are available from time to time, such as Deep Cuts for intermediate to advanced students. Some classes, such as the class in reading Draconic charts, are available any time. For details, please hit the ‘Learn’ tab on the home page.
